A most exqusite and unique shawl. The word “arabesque” is a musical term which means “decorative musical material or composition based on florid embellishment.” We think this lacy stole exemplifies the word in knitterly terms, being decoratively embellished with lovely lace throughout!
This is a garter stitch stole with every row knit. The stole is started at one end with a lace edging. Stitches are then picked up along the straight edge and the body of the stole is worked from this end to the other. After the body is completed, the lace edging is knit sideways onto the live stitches.
Shown in JaggerSpun Zephyr 2/18 lace weight yarn in color Jade. This pattern can also be created using the JaggerSpun Super Fine Merino 2/18 lace weight yarn line, or another comparable lace weight yarn line -- browse through our offerings!
Recommended for Advanced Intermediate Lace Knitters.
This shawl is approximately 20 inches wide and 79 inches long after blocking, but it can be made longer or shorter if desired by either using a finer or thicker gauge yarn, by varying the knitting needle sizes, a combination of both, or by simply knitting more.
27 stitches and 36 rows of the gauge swatch chart provided within the pattern to 6 inches wide and 5 inches high, after blocking and pinning tightly to "open up the lace."
This pattern was developed using the JaggerSpun Zephry Wool-Silk 2/18 lace weight yarn. The JaggerSpun Super Fine Merino line can be used interchangeably with this pattern. You would need either two (2) 2-oz pre-wound balls, or one (1) custom-wound 4-oz ball of either of the previously mentioned yarn lines to complete this project.
