Fiddlesticks Knitting Arabesque Shawl Lace Knitting Pattern Kit
Using JaggerSpun Super Fine Merino 2/18 Lace Weight Yarn
A most exquiite and unique shawl. The word “arabesque” is a musical term which means “decorative musical material or composition based on florid embellishment.” We think this lacy stole exemplifies the word in knitterly terms, being decoratively embellished with lovely lace throughout!
This is a garter stitch stole with every row knit. The stole is started at one end with a lace edging. Stitches are then picked up along the straight edge and the body of the stole is worked from this end to the other. After the body is completed, the lace edging is knit sideways onto the live stitches.
The photo above shows this pattern using the JaggerSpun Zephyr 2/18 lace weight yarn in color Jade.
But this kit is being offered in the JaggerSpun Super Fine Merino 2/18 lace weight yarn for those who prefer the elasticity of a 100% super fine grade merino wool, the closest that you can get to a 100% cashmere in softness while retaining all of the resilient benefits of wool. Both the Zephry 2/18 and the Super Fine Merino 2/18 lines are interchangeable in terms of pattern gauge.
Recommended for Advanced Intermediate Lace Knitters.

Finished Size
This shawl is approximately 20 inches wide and 79 inches long after blocking, but it can be made longer or shorter if desired by either using a finer or thicker gauge yarn, by varying the knitting needle sizes, a combination of both, or by simply knitting more.
Recommended gauge
27 stitches and 36 rows of the gauge swatch chart provided within the pattern to 6 inches wide and 5 inches high, after blocking and pinning tightly to "open up the lace."
