Fiddlesticks Knitting Flower-Power Poncho Pattern

Fiddlesticks Knitting Rhapsody Cardigan Pattern

The Flower-Poncho Poncho is a fanciful salute to the retro fashions of the '60s, but prettily updated for today’s fashions. It's easier to wear than a shawl, and looks great with jeans or short skirts! It knits up fast in a garter stitch lace pattern, with two strands of yarn held in the hand together.

The poncho is knit on 5 mm (US size 8) 24-inch circular needles and features flowers in a grid design. It is knit by casting on at one lower edge and knitting to the other, casting off and on again for the neck opening in the middle. This is a garter stitch design with lace shaping on one side only except for the straight lines of faggoting. Please click on the details (left hand side of this page).

Recommended for Intermediate knitters.

This pattern uses two (2) 2-oz balls of JaggerSpun Zephyr Wool-Silk (each 2 ounces/ 630 yards), and four 25 gram skeins of our Kid Silk Mohair (each 25 grams/278 yards) or equivalent lace-weight mohair. You can either match, or combine/contrast the colors for a nice finished effect. But use any yarn that meets the pattern gauge (see below).

Finished size is 47 inches wide and 32 inches long from shoulder to bottom edge.

Gauge

27 stitches and 32 rows in the pattern garter lace stitch - approximately 9 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches high after blocking.
