Bamboo fibers are made from the cellulose found in Bamboo stalks. When this cellulose is broken down and processed, superfine strands of fiber can be obtained. These fibers are spun into yarns that have incredible durability, drape, and sheen.  Our 100% Bamboo offers great elasticity (memory) as well because of the way it is spun.  You will find that these yarns are a pleasure to work with.

Bamboo is a renewable, biodegradable and non-polluting resource that can grow without the use of pesticides. One of the outstanding features of our 100% Bamboo yarn is its breathability and coolness.  The fiber structure of these yarns, enhanced by the spinning process, have microscopic holes that wick away moisture and facilitate its evaporation, which render garments made from 100% Bamboo yarns among the most comfortable  for warm-to-extremely-hot weather climates. These same qualities offer natural insulation as well.  100% Bamboo yarns have natural antibacterial, deodorant and non-allergenic qualities that remain in the fabric even after many washes, rendering this yarn ideal for socks and children’s wear.

Bamboo yarns have a lovely sheen and a beautiful drape, and have a very similar character to viscose rayon (also plant-derived) and ramie. Bamboo yarns absorb dyes easily, and the dyes reflect back brilliantly. Fabrics made with bamboo yarns remind us of silk because of the beautiful sheen, but are far less expensive – and they don’t pill so they offer superior durability.

Storage tips:
 For long-term storage, make sure this yarn is in a moth-proofed environment. Clean, clear plastic containers work extremely well. You can also wrap the garment in archival tissue paper to extend garment life.
